Who is Skylark+Owl Linen Co?
Founded in 1946, Skylark+Owl’s parent company Eden Textile has been supplying the Canadian hospitality industry for over 70 years. During this time our team has traversed the globe in search of responsibly made linens and have become textile experts.
Over the years, the same individuals who have experienced the comfort of our products through our hospitality clients have continued to reach out to purchase Eden’s irresistibly comfy hotel pillows, sheets and duvets for their homes. Skylark+Owl Linen Co. is the result of this continuous demand and appreciation for the comfort and quality of Eden’s products.
What is your highest thread count and why?
Thread count is very important to us, and we’re sure you’ve heard the myth that a higher thread count means a better quality sheet. Unlike most companies, here at Skylark, we choose to be honest about our manufacturing processes. Some manufacturers distort this number by not just counting the threads, but counting the individual plies that make up a thread. This does not improve the quality of your sheets!
Thread count is the number of vertical and horizontal threads within a square inch of a sheet.
With sheets, the maximum thread count within a square inch of a sheet is around 400-500. Our Refined Collection is a buttery smooth, 400 thread count, while our Essential Collection is woven into a breathable 300 thread count.
What’s the difference between Sateen and Percale?
Hot or Cold. Log or Mover. Starfish or Fetal. The type of sheets that work for you depends on the type of sleeper you are.
Percale is a one by one-yarn weave fabric with a matte finish and a cool, crisp feel. It is exceptionally soft and durable, lightweight and breathable, making it especially forgiving during those hot summer nights.
While Sateen has a four by one-yarn weave fabric, resulting in a silky-soft feel and luminous sheen because of a larger exposed surface. It is more tightly woven and heavier in weight than Percale, making it warmer and softer for all around year use.
What sort of packaging will my new sheets come in?
At Skylark+Owl, we strive to be as environmentally responsible as possible. That is why we ship our sheets in sewn bags sourced from surplus fabric that would otherwise end up in a landfill. This allows us to use little to no plastic in our packaging. We hope that our customers can then use these bags while shopping, rather than single-use plastic ones.
What certifications do Skylark+Owl products have?
All Skylark+Owl Products are Oeko-Tex Certified.
Oeko-Tex is an international association focused on textile safety and sustainable production. Oeko-Tex® tests for known harmful substances and chemicals as well as for acidity and color fastness. This organization does independent testing at every level of production, and all components of the product must comply with stringent Oeko-Tex® standards to achieve certification.
