We recently had the pleasure of speaking with the inspiring, women-led team at Ralia Rentals—founded by Mya Pearle Nerenberg, their President of Operations— about how they integrate Human Design principles into their thoughtfully curated spaces. More than just a place to stay, Ralia Rentals offers a holistic, sustainable experience rooted in care, community, and environmental responsibility. Guided by the Indigenous Seventh Generation Principle, they prioritize the well-being of both people and the planet—offering eco-friendly products, local soaps and shampoos, and stewarding resources with future generations in mind.
In our conversation, the Ralia team shared insights into their design process, their commitment to sustainability, and how they use high-quality Canadian bedding across their properties in Canada and Costa Rica to create comfort and connection. Here’s what they had to say:

Can you share a bit about your rental properties and what inspired you to explore human design principles for them?
At Ralia Rentals, we believe that spaces should be more than just functional—they should serve a deeper purpose. Our properties, whether in Costa Rica or Canada, are rooted in the values of sustainability and creating meaningful experiences for our guests. We wanted to integrate Human Design to ensure our spaces foster well-being, connection, and personal growth. These spaces are designed as sanctuaries—places where guests can relax, connect, and recharge. We also use art to inspire creativity and play, which helps create energy flow and connection throughout the space.
What does "Human Design" mean to you, and why do you feel it’s important for a rental property?
To us, Human Design is a powerful framework that guides every aspect of the Ralia ethos—from team building and business development to the way we create and curate our spaces. We use it as a tool to help us make more aligned decisions—choices that are in tune with our mission, values, intuition, and purpose, rather than based on external pressure, trends, or one-size-fits-all strategies.
In the context of our rental properties, Human Design helps us go beyond aesthetics. It helps us shape the atmosphere—through intentional choices in lighting, layout, and flow—to create spaces that feel balanced, restorative, and deeply supportive. Our goal is for every element to foster peace, connection, and a sense of well-being, so guests feel truly held and at home during their stay.
What Human Design concepts did you incorporate into your properties?
We’ve incorporated Human Design principles through the artwork throughout our properties. The art invites creativity and play, which energizes the space and promotes engagement. The thoughtful integration of art, design, and layout creates a harmonious environment, encouraging guests to connect in ways that feel personal and inspiring. The design helps set a tone of relaxation and inspiration, inviting guests to feel at home, unwind, and connect.
Are there specific elements of the bedding or linens that renters seem to love the most?
Our guests frequently mention how much they love the softness and breathability of the bedding. The cozy, cocooning sheets are often noted for helping guests get the best sleep they’ve had in a while. The duvet covers, in particular, have been praised for adding the perfect snug and comfortable touch to the bed, creating that perfect sleep experience.

How did Skylark and Owl Linen Co.'s bedding and linens align with your design vision?
Skylark and Owl Linen Co. were a perfect fit for our design vision at Ralia Rentals. Their commitment to sustainability, thoughtful design, and eco-friendly production methods aligns seamlessly with our values. We love that they are a women-led, Canadian company. Their linens are not only luxurious but are crafted with care for both the environment and the human experience. The high-quality, natural fabrics help create the calm, restorative atmosphere we aim for in our spaces.
How do bedding and linens contribute to the overall experience for your renters?
Bedding is crucial to the guest experience—it’s where they relax and unwind after a long day. When guests sleep well, they wake up refreshed, and that contributes to the overall enjoyment of their stay. High-quality, sustainable linens help our guests feel cared for, which leaves a lasting positive impression. By providing luxurious and cozy bedding, we ensure our guests have a truly restorative experience.
What advice would you give to other property owners who want to combine thoughtful design with premium amenities like bedding?
My advice would be to focus on creating a space that makes guests feel at ease and cared for. Investing in quality, sustainable items like cozy bedding can truly enhance comfort and overall guest satisfaction. Small touches go a long way—when you provide a space that makes people feel relaxed and cared for, they will remember their experience and want to return.
